Cider country - first outing for Nessa January 2022

We are off to Somerset for the weekend - getting very excited already !

And we're going in our van Nessa who is also excited for her first trip of 2022. For once I've (mick) done the choosing - usually Louise (aka Judith Chalmers) works her magic! And I must say it looks easier than it is to find a suitable venue. Firstly loads of camping spaces are closed until March , secondly we've want a pub very local, dog friendly for @reggieroothecockerpoo, and need it to be drivable in 2 hours. Last night , using the amazing Pitchup.com app I managed to find us somewhere within our required 95 mile drive, that looks exactly right! Tuckers Grave Inn is a traditional cider house and one of the oldest in Somerset.

Its doors first opened to thirsty travellers over 200 years ago, its steeped in local history, preserved in time and pickled in cider.

A pub with camping - and get this, £16 a night!

So today I topped up the heaters with diesel, popped Nessa on charge, screwed the electric charging port back up tight (cos I pulled it off accidentally!) panicked because the entry step reported a fault , relaxed, put the fridge on, checked she started, warmed her up and broke a cupboard closure! Standard #vanlife

After walking 6 miles around the Bath skyline taking in amazing views of Bath, we arrived at Tuckers ! It's full of people with vans!!! It appears to be the meeting point for the Somerset area VW campervan club or whatever they call themselves. Loads of friendly vanlifers who got friendlier as the Cider wore on. Great Pork stew - I doubt they would do a vegan option! ( that would be cider ) for £5 a head ...

came out of the pub in the dark and incredible lack of light pollution :

Sunday we walked around a local village and stumbled across Babington House, which we think is a Soho House hotel, looked very lovely, but we imagine just a touch more than £16 a night!
