What a life, can't wait to get back on the road ! 2022 plans include Whitstable, Cider country, Scotland, festivals .... and much more. lolling around eating, drinking, sleeping and drifting.
The original big bus , before our Transit transitioned, was a working 17 seater school minibus. From birth in 2015 until late 2019 hauling sweaty teenage rugby players was their life.
To be frank, we wish we had converted it ourselves, but we bought Nessa already done up. We know now that the conversion was purely investment. The finish poor, the intentions good. Ripped apart and rebuilt in Blackpool by a lesser known conversion start up called Vamper Vans.
We picked the bus up from a very pleasant chap in Bridlington ! mid pandemic - long train ride. We weren't expecting the size of her ! Big Bertha was born - we could easily have walked away, but however impractical it felt to buy a bus nearly 7 meters long (that we didn't even think would fit in our drive / and to be frank I was terrified of driving ) we fell in love and an emotional purchase was made.
what ever happened to all those seats??
You can see why we fell in love with Big Betha. Our Transit Van had identity issues, transitioning several times after birth, becoming Luther (Van Doss) initially, seriously considered (Van the man) Morrison, but found her personality in (Van) Nessa.
Well Nessa needed a proper identity and we felt she deserved a make over!
Windows needed blacking out for privacy. And some decal added for DVLA - can't be a Motor Caravan without being visibly NOT a bus, the rigmarole, the absolute pain in the arse of getting the V5 changed to reflect the conversion feels worth it - the advantage is that she can now be driven by anyone with a full license. the disadvantage turns out to be more expensive insurance, higher road tax, and many hours we will never get back dealing with the beurocracy that is DVLA! Anyway she's now officially a tonne lighter which is a pretty amazing diet for her first year!
